GTA V exceeds 135 million copies in sales

According to Franceska Bucci, a former Rockstar producer, Grand Theft Auto IV managed to surpass the $ 2 billion barrier in its entire life cycle, having sold 28 million copies since 2008.

The latest addition to the popular series, Grand Theft Auto V, is at 135 million copies sold. Together with GTA Online, the title generated revenue of more than $ 500 million for the entire 2019, ie 1/4 of the total revenue generated by GTA IV. It is worth noting that GTA Online grossed $ 1 billion in 2017, solely through in-game purchases based on microtransactions.

Rockstar intends to further increase its revenue with the re-release of an upgraded version of GTA V on the new generation systems, while we remind you that GTA Online will soon be available for purchase as a standalone title. According to rumors, the American studio is developing the long-awaited, next addition to the GTA series, with rumors wanting the title to take place in South America, with the possibility of mixing different locations, such as Los Santos, California and Vice City, and the development team to return to the basic design pattern of a protagonist.

GTA IV became available in April 2008 on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, with GTA V released about 5 years later.
